"I bought this top because the IO 365 long sleeve scoop neck was sold out of my size. I read so many reviews saying this item was too short for a maternity top and that it didn’t fit most. I thought I could just order my usual size (1) and get it taken in because I'm not pregnant. I am usually a US size 2/4. 34 D bust, 27 in. waist, 36 in. hips.
To my surprise, the top fit! I didn’t have to get it taken in at all. I couldn’t imagine how it would fit even if I did have a bump. I like the ruching detail. Yes, it’s minimal and on one side; and no, the ruching does not cover and would not cover a bump because the flap (a double layer) that creates the ruching lies just enough to cover the top to top mid-section. I am 65.25 inches, NOT PREGNANT, and the flap hits at the middle of my stomach. I would imagine that the flap is only supposed to cover the top part of a bump, and not the whole bump, if pregnant.
I would agree that the top doesn’t resemble the picture but you can see how the flap comes down at an angle and below it is more ruching. When I tried it on, the flap (top layer) still comes down in an angle creating a drape/ruching effect but there is no more ruching below that, and the length of the top (bottom layer) hits at mid hip like any other non maternity top.
Overall, I am happy with my purchase. The material is comfy like all the other IO tops and the fit, surprisingly, was just the right size. I would definitely suggest this to all my non pregnant friends because it is too short for a maternity top. The only bad thing is that the flap (top layer) might be too much for some women and would require some tailoring to have it taken in just a little to create less of a drape, but for the most part the top is fitted."

"I'd been looking at this top on the website for some time and finally decided to take the plunge and treated myself. I ordered the black. I've bought a number of things from IO and have always been really pleased with them but this time I was surprised as the top was not at all what I had expected. The images shown on the website are somewhat misleading and I was not expecting to find what I can only describe as a flap of material hanging across the front of the top which is what causes the ruching. The images make it look very different and also suggest a lot more ruching than is actually the case. I've kept and worn the top as I was going away with work immediately after receiving it and needed something, but this is the first time I was actually disappointed by something from IO. I would strongly suggesting changing the images of this top on the website to more accurately reflect the design."

"The top doesn't look like the one shown, and the fit is just odd - it doesn't sit right at all. It barely covers my bump at 29 weeks and the ruching is only on one side.
Other tops I have ordered from Isabella Oliver were great so it's a bit disappointing."

"I think this top is great. Yes, the ruching on one side is minimal but the fit is still great."

"Although I love the colour (I choose grape), the actual top looks nothing like the one on the photo. The rushing is only on one side of the top. I found that the finish of the "flap" that creates the rushing was poor. Also the top is too short for a maternity top that is supposed to carry you through the 9 months. I own other IO pieces that I love. This is unfortunately not one of them."

"There was nothing special about the styling of this shirt. In fact, compared to the other things in the catalog I was a little disappointed. But buyer beware...unless you have a flawless figure and have only gained a baby bump in the front and haven't gained anyweight anywhere else on your body forget about it. The shirt (I ordered the largest size availbale) was too tight across the back and shoulders and was too tight under the arms."

"This top was a disappointment. It's a lovely colour (I bought it in the grape colour) but like the previous reviewer has said it is not the same as in the picture. There is a ruching type effect on one side, but not on the other and instead just a flap which doesn't fit across the body. It looks nothing like in the photograph. The top isn't as long as the scoop neck tops either and covers my bump now (I'm 21 weeks) but won't for much longer I don't think. It would be lovely if it was the same as the scoop neck tops but in this grape colour. Saying that the quality of the material is lovely but just disappointed it's not like the photograph. Expensive too for a top that won't last the whole pregnancy."

"This shirt is too short and does not have the rouching along the body as pictured. I ordered in a size 2 just like all the other IO pieces I have and love; however, it is already too short and I'm 29 weeks along. Pretty color but very disappointing construction. I even ordered a second top but it came with the same errors. The shirt is nowhere near as long as the ruched scoop neck tops nor does it have rouching along one side. This makes the fit akward and too short to cover the 3rd trimester bump."
